To keep your 24 karat gold-plated or sterling silver talismans brilliance and protect their durability, we advise you to remove your jewellery when you shower, or bathe, and particularly when swimming. Chemicals found in natural springs, waterfalls, the sea and swimming pools will cause excessive tarnishing. Perspiration and water will also cause tarnishing to your jewellery. 

Avoid spraying perfume, applying lotions, cosmetics or any other liquids directly onto your jewellery. Hair and skin products can react with jewellery causing it to discolour, tarnish and possibly corrode. We strongly advise applying any scents and cosmetics before putting on your talismans. 

Before engaging in any form of physical activity that may expose them to risk, be it running, climbing trees or swimming through waterfalls, remove jewellery. This will ensure our delicate pieces are not accidentally damaged.

Keep your jewellery away from extreme temperatures, humidity or sunlight. 

Avoid wearing your jewellery when using bleach, cleaning products and other chemicals.

We highly recommend storing your jewellery in the original Gemma Roe packaging provided or another suitably lined box or soft pouch and place a small packet of desiccant crystals in the packaging if you live in a humid climate. Exposure to the environment and air can cause your jewellery to tarnish over time. Our pouch will keep your jewellery treasured for longer and preserve its magic, as it preserves yours. Inside a travel case whilst travelling or a jewellery box at home is also an great way to store your jewellery. Wipe your jewellery clean with a soft cloth before putting it away.

Ideally store your pieces of jewellery separately, so that they don't rub together or become tangled. Sleeping in your jewellery is not recommended. Do not store jewellery next to windowsills, in the bathroom or heating vents. Hot and damp conditions will cause the jewellery to tarnish severely.

To keep your talismans looking bright and radiant and to remove the build-up of dirt and premature tarnish we recommend using Connoisseurs anti-tarnish jewellery wipes or a jewellery cloth. Rub each piece very carefully in one direction rather than circular motions.

For Gold Plated and Sterling Silver items you can use mild warm soapy water and a soft toothbrush to remove any dirt however it will not bring back any shine of the original plating. We would recommend a re-plating of your item if you want to give it its sparkle back.

Do not use paper towels or tissue paper to clean metal as they can cause scratching.

(All pieces are available in solid gold, if you want to wear them all the time, come river, mountain or jungle.)

Solid 9 karat gold is the best option for Sculpted Talismans if you want to wear them all the time.

To preserve the lustre of your gold talismans, store them in a cool dry place, preferably in its pouch and box to preserve its magic.

Whilst you can shower and sleep with your solid gold pieces, we recommend keeping them away from any perfumes or harsh cleaning products.
